RULES
TOURNAMENT
- Anyone can submit a drabble, though all submissions must be in by the specified date for that tournament.
- There will be a theme or characteristic assigned for each tournament. You may use/interpret the theme as loosely or exactly as you'd like, but it must be (arguably) identifiable. Check the
Tournament Page for these details.
- After submitting a story, you will receive an email with editing suggestions. You will then have a chance to make any changes (or make no changes), then reply with the finalized story, which will
then be posted on the website. - A public vote will be held on the Current Tournament page. Voters may only vote 1 time. Winners will be announced on the final day of the tournament.
FORMAT
- All stories must be exactly 100 words in length.
- Contractions are counted as one word.
(Do not = 2 words; Don't = 1 word)
(mom'n'em = 1 word, as in: how's yur mom'n'em?) - Hyphenated words are counted as one word.
(Skank train = 2 words; Skank-train = 1 word)
(Pubey genital garden = 3; Pubey-genital-garden = 1) - If writing in dialect or made-up language, letter groupings will be counted as words only when divided by spaces.
(thisbitchbelikecrazy = 1 word)
(garblandishag = 1 word, as in: the alien's garblandishag was rotten and dripping from its hectodrome)
- SPECIAL NOTE ON COMBO-WORDS:
You may hyphenate/contract/create as many words as you'd like. However, this is not an excuse to overuse combination-words in your story in order to skirt the length rules. We won't impose any exact rules on this, just don't be a dick about it. These stories are meant to be read in a minute or so.
- Story-titles can be any length, but may not be used to connect directly into a drabble's narrative.
(Title: The Bonfire Was Burning...;
Opening line of drabble: ...like gonorrhea.) - Please use http://www.wordcounter.net/ to get an accurate count for your stories. This is what we will be using to double-check your word-counts.
- You may fucking swear and get as raunchy as you'd like. No content restrictions other than not-including your identifying information within your drabble; just your pen name/pseudonym. That being said, if your drabble isn't exactly family-friendly, it will contain a parental advisory note when published.
DETERMINING WINNERS
- There will be public voting on the drabbles during the tournament month. Competing drabblers may vote and may even vote for themselves. This method will choose the "People's Choice Award" winners.
- The DRABBLED editor (The Man in the Yellow Hat) and a guest editor will also discuss the competing drabbles to decide whom will receive the "Editor's Award(s)".
- Voting for the Current Tournament will take place October 26 - October 30.
- Winners will be announced on Halloween 2015.
SUBMITTING
- ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST BE IN BY
OCTOBER 21, 2015 - Only one submission per participant/player.
- All players must use a pen name/code name/nick name; this tournament is anonymous.
- All submissions will be made through email. Please submit your stories to
DRABBLEDDETROIT@GMAIL.COM - All drabbles submitted must not be
published anywhere else. - By submitting your drabble(s) and participating in the tournament, you are granting the administrator(s)/editor(s) of DRABBLED.com the right to publicly post/publish your drabble and keep it in the DRABBLED Archive. You also grant DRABBLED.com and its administrator(s)/editor(s) permission to e-publish your submitted drabbles in an e-zine or other form of digital and digitally distributed collection. All rights immediately revert back to the author after posting. There is no fee for entry into the DRABBLED Tournaments, but there is also no pay for being accepted, published in any media-form, or winning the tournament. Simply, no money is ever exchanged between anyone involved with DRABBLED!
- All drabbles will be included in the Archive Page. There are no losers. Every player's drabble is important here at DRABBLED. We want variety! Spice of life. And the spice must flow! (Dune anyone?)
- If there is ever print publishing considered, all writers will be notified if possible. By submitting a story to DRABBLED, you are also granting permission to DRABBLED and its editor(s)/administrator(s) the right to publish your story in print and/or any physical media.
